Bac/forms of power
Message de halo posté le 05-05-2016 à 16:31:05 (S | E | F)
Bonjour
je passe mon oral d'anglais bientôt; j'aimerai que vous m'aidiez à corriger mon oral s'il vous plait.
Merci d'avance pour vos réponses.

I am going to talk about the notion places and forms of power. The power can appear on many forms: political, economic, financial. In class, we focused on one form of power: the press. So we can ask: How is the newsroom changing? We will see the differences between the news papers and the news websites. In the first part we will see this differences sources and the contributors of this differences types of media. And in the second part we will see their differences in the censorship and the speed.

First the sources of the news websites. Some site only recycle information. It can be more trustworthy than tabloid newspapers but some comments are sometimes based on rumours. Some people say their news comes from the horse’s mouth and it is not what the reporter heard. So their sources are not a really good reputation. The sources of the news papers are more reliable since the journalists, reporters investigate, sometimes they spend months in foreign countries to look for clues. The reporters and editors check their sources, they make sure what is published is reliable. Now the differences contributors of this media. For the news websites anyone can write, there are links to blogs: readers have access to many viewpoints. Moreover readers can post comments on what is published. What is posted is not necessarily relevant or interesting for readers. We cannot check who generates the updates. For the newspapers only one version is published, which cannot be questioned: readers are supposed to take it for granted.

Then the censorship of the news websites. Nearly anything can be published. Yet some governments manage to shut down websites or deny access to google as in China. So the news websites are very dangerous for the children and teenagers. For the news papers some papers are owned by companies or conglomerates. What they published reflects the company's viewpoint, some articles are censored. Now their speed. The news websites are faster, they can publish around the clock, all year round. What you read has been updated. For the newspapers the editorial process takes time is slower unfortunately some news are printed too late.

To conclude in the past there used to be a few privileged people who could decide what could be said or not said. Now people can have easy access to information thanks to the Internet and democracy prevailing in many countries today. But today's readers have to select information , but it creates some kind of anxiety.
