Bonjour,
je suis en Fac d'anglais en 1ère année et j'ai une introduction à faire en exercice. J'hésite sur la phrase suivante :
Barely a year after the United States acknowledged/ had acknowleged the full extent of terrorist threats on the 11th of September 2001
Would you mind telling me if it is understandable and correct, grammatically speaking.

Ce serait mieux d'avoir la phrase entière car selon le contexte on peut employer le past simple ou le pluperfect;... ou alors vous avez oublié de mettre le point final après 2001?

Here is the entire sentence : Barely a year after the United States had acknowledged the full extent of terrorist threats on the 11th of September 2001, the weekly newspaper the Christian Science Monitor published an article dealing with power shifts.

It is correct, with the pluperfect had acknowledged.( An action took place before another one.)
