Good evening !

Is this sentence correct? "I finally boarded very late in the evening but except that, it turned out all right. "
I want to say: "J'ai finalement embarqué très tard dans la soirée, mais à part ça, tout s'est bien passé"

"apart from that" seems more appropriate than "except that" here. In fact, "except that" doesn't work in that context.

simplicius is right; the sentence should read:
I finally boarded very late in the evening but apart from that, it turned out all right.
Turn out is correct.

On pourrait dire, en revanche : "Everything turned out ok, except that I boarded very late", mais il me semble que la 1ere phrase, une fois corrigée, est meilleure, parce que le 'turned ok" a un côté "conclusion" qui fait qu'il se trouve mieux à la fin de la phrase.
