Hello
I had your exercise about comparative and superlative and the first sentence.. that says:
Sandra is ---------- (+ pretty) Sophia.
I wrote : SANDRA IS MORE PRETTIER THAN SOPHIA
because I know that the adjective PRETTY ends in Y and this adjective has two syllables so, you need to write MORE + THAN + ADJECTIVE
and when I finished it was wrong..
I can't understand because the page said to me that the correct form is :
SANDRA IS PRETTIER THAN SOPHIA .
Can you explain me better?
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
adjectives ending in y are considered short, even with two syllables:
Sandra is taller, older, shier, happier and heavier than Sophia. As Lucile points out, it is a miracle she is prettier than Sophia !!
With more than two syllables, the adjective can be considered as a long one:
Sandra is more pleasant, more sensitive, more lovely, more extraordinary than Sophia.
