Des erreurs à bannir
Message de taconnet posté le 13-04-2010 à 15:34:24 (S | E | F)

Bonjour.

Bonjour.

J'ai surligné en BLEU les erreurs

1 - I can't support the people who don't stop to complain.

2 -Come and spend the week-end with us !
-I'd like well.

3- Hardly we were arrived than she started to moan.

4- Could you say me what does this word mean please ?

5- I don't remember of having met them last year.

6- His vision of the problem is completely different of mine.

7- They were looking at themselves without speaking.

8 - Lectures won't start before october.

9- It's the first time I take the plane.

10 He has lost so much time on question one that he has no time to complete the problem.

Voici les explications.

1- to support : Lien Internet

Ce n'est donc pas le bon verbe.
I can't bear :
Lien Internet

I can't stand :
Lien Internet

Ne pas confondre:

I stopped reading my paper ──► je me suis arrêté de lire mon journal.
avec
I stopped to read my paper ──► je me suis arrêté pour lire mon journal.
L'infinitif to read marque un but : in order to read.

« He was always asking the same questions

pas d'article défini devant people (the people)

2- TO anaphorique:

Tournure elliptique : « TO anaphorique »

Pour éviter une répétition, l'infinitif est parfois réduit à sa particule «TO» appelée alors « To anaphorique » , qui peut être précédé de « NOT».

Cette tournure est très courante avec used to , ought to, going to, have to , et d'autres verbes tels que to want, to refuse , to intend , to prefer ,to hope, to ask, to tell, to expect, ainsi qu'avec certains verbes passifs comme supposed to , expected to ...

Voici des exemples :

Are you and Mary getting married? - We hope to.
Let's go for a walk. - I don't want to.
I don't dance much now, but I used to a lot.
Somebody ought to clean up the bathroom. - I'll ask John to.

Remarque:

Après would like, want, love , prefer, choose on ne doit pas omettre le « to anaphorique»

Are you interested in going to university ? - I'd like to.
My parents encouraged me to study art, but I did't want to.

Cependant, le « to anaphorique » est souvent omis après want et presque toujours supprimé après like quand ces verbes sont précédés des conjonctions when, if, what, as.

Come when you want(to)
I'll do what I like.
Stay as long as you like.

3- Il faut connaître les tournures :

Hardly ... when
No sooner ... than

« No sooner had they sat on the lawn to have tea than it started raining.»

« Hardly had they sat on the lawn to have tea when it started to rain.»

Remarque

Après les verbes to start , to continue , to cease , on emploie indifféremment le GÉRONDIF ou l'INFINITIF.

I started playing /to play golf when I was 12.

4- Say versus tell

Lien Internet

« I must remember to post the letter tomorrow. »

« I remember posting it last night. »

On dit : different FROM

9- Après l'expression : « This is /It's the first time » il faut employer le present perfect

« This is the first time I've been here

On dira de même :

« It was the first time I had seen her

10- Si au sens général «perdre» se traduit par «to lose», on le traduit par «to waste » lorsque l'on veut exprimer une idée de temps

Voici ce que je vous propose :

1- I can't stand people who are always complaining.

2- Come and spend the week-end with us !
-I'd like to.

3- Hardly had we arrived when she started moaning.

4- Could you tell me what this word means please ?

5- I don't remember meeting them last year.

6- His approach of the problem is totally different from mine.

7- They were looking at each other without speaking.

8- Lectures won't start until October.

9- It's the first time I have taken the plane.

10- He had wasted so much time on question one that he had no time to complete the problem.

Je vous remercie.
