Bonjour all friends..me voici revenue à vous pour nos petits ou grands rendez-vous "littéraires" toujours fort plaisants.Je vous espère tous en bonne forme et prêts aujourd'hui à goûter une nouvelle tranche de cake.euh..d'humour british, bien sûr. aux curieux qui viendraient à découvrir le goût de violet!..:

Correction prévue autour du samedi 4 Octobre.

----------------------- " Ma première rentrée ". Thème I ou ---------------------------------

[ Ce petit aristrocrate de fine lignée passa la majeure partie de ses premières années dans le giron de sa nourrice câline ou à exceller déjà dans les activités de plein air. Père quasiment mutique à son égard, mère distraite et excentrique, peu disponible pour lui : il lui fallut s'armer par la suite. Apparemment guère enclin à la concentration intellectuelle,il n'aimait ni les consignes ni qu'on lui raconte des histoires !.. A sept ans, il fut arraché à "son petit paradis" pour un internat très privé et d'élite ...La séparation fut des plus cruelles, du moins pour lui . ....]

------" On me conduisit à une salle de classe où l'on m'ordonna de m'asseoir à un pupitre. Tous les autres garçons devaient s'ébrouer à l'extérieur quand, moi, je me retrouvai seul face au Maître. Il exhiba un livre peu épais dont la couverture tendait vers un gris- marron. Y figuraient des mots en différents caractères d'imprimerie.

- " Vous n'avez jamais fait de Latin avant,sauf erreur? " dit l'homme au regard sévère.
- " Non, monsieur."

- " Ceci est une grammaire latine." Il l'ouvrit sans peine à une page bien écornée.
- "A vous d'apprendre tout cela !" poursuivit-il ,le doigt pointé sur un certain nombre de mots alignés dans un encadré.
-" Je serai de retour dans une demi-heure pour voir ce que vous en aurez retenu".

Je ne suis pas sûre de bien comprendre ta recommandation, et te vois un tantinet rigide à ton retour de vacances !Comme je crois y déceler le ton de la plaisanterie, te dirai simplement qu'être strictement fidèle au texte, c'est quelquefois difficile ou ça m'ennuie un peu !!! ---
Un mot c'est un mot, soit ! Donc pour éviter le zéro, j'y veillerai ! ---

This young aristocrat of noble descent spent most of his early years in his affectionate nurse's lap, or already excelling at outdoor activities.A father who was practically silent towards him, an absent-minded and eccentric mother who wasn't avalaible for him : he had to harden himself, later on.Apparently, not really disposed to mental concentration,he liked neither instructions, nor being told fibs.!
When he was seven years old, he was uprooted from his "little heaven" to go to a public boarding school...The parting was one of the most painful, at least as far as he was concerned.....
-"I was led to a class-room where I was ordered to sit down at a desk. All the others boys had to shake themselves while I found myself alone, in front of the teacher.He flaunted a not very thick book , the cover of which approached to a grey-brown color, on which different block capital words appeared.

Donc voici le résultat de mes efforts de ce samedi

First Day at a New School
This young well-bred aristocrat spent most of his early years either close to his beloved nurse or excelling at outdoor activities. With a practically silent father and an eccentric, often absent mother, he had to steel himself for the future. Apparently, he had no concentration span, didn't like being told what to do or lied to! When he was seven, he was dragged away from this Eden to a rather elite boarding school. The separation was a cruel one, at least it was for him.....

"I was taken to a classroom and told to sit at a desk. All the other boys had to go outside to play around and I found myself face to face with the teacher. He was holding out a rather thin looking book to me that had a greyish brown cover on which was written some rather strange words.

"You've obviously never done latin before, am I right?" he said sternly
"No, sir."
"This here is a latin grammar book." It fell open easily at a dog-eared page.
"Learn what's on this page!" he continued and he pointed to some aligned words in a grill.
"I'll be back in half-an-hour to see how much you will have remembered."

Not to sure about this Violet! Quite a "head-scratcher" - it took me a while, didn't it? Hope to see the correction soon.

And now..on s'en va-t' aller en correction comme "on s'en va-t'en guerre "..Pas la fleur au fusil..plutôt à reculons.

1) My first day at school . Le premier de tous. "Changement de condition". L'emphase me semble préférable.Celui-là va rester mémorable.

2) A little aristocrat : porte une marque d'affection et d'apitoiement sur ce petit garçon dont l'enfance a été difficile. Interne à sept ans..à "Saint George Preparatory School for Boys",puis Harrow, en plus. La vie comme à Eton, Repton..y était (est?) rude. On ne fabrique pas 19 Premiers Ministres comme cela !

3 ) An aristocrat of great ancestry : "of" car il est né noble (a member of)..un "pur-sang" du côté de son père où s'enchaînent les titres. Fine lineage .

- De même garder l'emphase sur le lieu (donc pas de génitif déterminatif) est préférable.Même si la personne est importante.c'est le lieu du câlin "cuddle" qui est un refuge.

" Come and give me a cuddle!" [ 'kdl]: "Viens (donc)me faire un câlin!"
"Big hugs" (to hug : serrer fort par affection)= "gros bisous" from.. On ne termine pas une lettre (anglaise!) avec "big kisses"..

8) Excelling at : m'est venu d'un premier jet comme "good at, gifted at... Excelling in est bon aussi, mais (to me) met en opposition toutes les autres matières. Or, il est soit à la "nursery" ,soit dehors...et les parents n'ont fait sans doute que vaguement voir qu'il n'était pas très disposé à "apprendre". On l'envoie donc "en preparatory school for boys". Son bégaiement(stuttering) et son rapport difficile au langage ne devaient ,bien sûr, pas aider.
To excel at : exceller, se dépasser. To excel in : être le meilleur,faire des prouesses..

Visiblement..la technique "de comment tirer des images au bon moment" permet grâce à lakata (qui semble mieux la connaître que moi: la technique, pas la "nanny"!!)de mieux visualiser (le "garçon", sa "nanny chérie")!..(thank you, dear)

9 ) Outdoor activities inclut les "games"et le fait de s'activer en plein air : nature,observation des animaux, jardinage (j'en doute pour lui...)..

10 ) Etre mutique (travis): être muet (mute,silent..)= souffrir de mutisme ..ou observer un mutisme sélectif (le cas du père ,ici).
- to keep silent, mute toward him. Not to address him (v.transitif : ne même pas lui adresser la parole).

11 ) Distraite: la mère n'est pas "étourdie"(absent-minded),ou alors c'est par les hommes et les "affaires" !..Elle a autre chose à faire et l'époque,comme son milieu lui facilitent les choses.Elle fait "avancer "son mari,ce n'est déjà pas mal!..Elle sera une bonne alliée de son fils quand il sera adulte. 12 ) La "belle Américaine" était eccentric . Très remarquée à l'époque. Elle disait avoir un serpent tatoué (à la mode en ce temps-là)autour du poignet(certains historiens se disputent là-dessus!). Elle est comptée dans les "scandalous women" de l'Histoire..: riche, très belle,très intelligente,spirituelle,impétueuse irrévérencieuse (and so on and so forth). Mère d'un "beau prématuré"(notre "garçon") (sept mois de grossesse)après un mariage "expédié".. Une autre partie du "pedigree" tout à fait intéressante et qui a laissé des traces..

Hi! Sorry for the late but you know why...So this is my work:

My first term
This modest aristocrat of little descendants passed the greatest part of his first years on the bosom of his affectionate childminder or yet excelling in the outdoor activities. Father almost silent toward him, mother absent-minded and eccentric, not very ready for him: he needed to be strong enough for the future. Apparently indisposed to the focusing, he didn’t like neither order nor telling him fibs! When he was seventeen, he was extracted from “his little paradise” to a very private and elite boarding school...The separation was one of the crueler, at least for him...
I was conducted to a classroom where I was told to sit down on a desk. The rest of the boys might be shaking themselves outdoor when, me, I was on my own with the Teacher. He showed a book not very thick which cover tended toward grey-brown. In it there was word in various block prints.
-“You have never learned Latin before, have you?” said the men with a severe expression.
-“No, Sir”
- “This is a romance grammar” He opened it easily to a page well dog-eared.

- to be to : on a donc publié les bans de mariage: "they are to be married on July 25th.."! C'est écrit trois semaines à l'avance et visible à tous en mairie (Town Hall)

42 ) To point at, to point to : montrer du doigt. Il m'a semblé que "to" était employé car l'index touche le papier (plus proche qu'indiquer du doigt..une direction)

43 ) A frame : un encadré comme une "charpente".,un cadre-photo..

44 ) Half an hour is English. Je vois que l'on se détend aux US. (in half an hour time, within half an hour).

45 ) Back and see (constater) what you know..: car seul le résultat compte = la connaissance totale (de l'encadré!) : ce qu'il sait ,finalement. What you can remember ,what you have remembered, what you will have remembered> je vous ai embarqués "dans une galère" ..et vous maîtrisez bien le futur antérieur. En tout cas ,cela marquerait un vrai doute sur les aptitudes du "garçon"!
